1. Who we are
We are a group of like minded individuals that have come together in virtual space to share and exchange
information of importance to NRI’s who wish to Return back to India.
2. Our Charter
2.1. Primary Purpose: To provide a common virtual meeting point for Return to India (R2I) related discussions.
And help every one to plan the finance, investments, taxes with all available information.
2.2. Secondary Purpose: To provide a board for discussing Non-R2I related subjects by NRI, PIO, and R2Ied. This
is in essence, the lounge.
3. The History
A lot of the members here were members in the SIFY forum. And a lot of members here were not members of SIFY
forum. Some of those who were SIFY members became unhappy with the quality of postings there. RRK started his own
forum with some members from there participating in the newly created forum.
Over time, this forum rapidly grew and this growth is a testament to an effective management of the forum. Over
time the forum also evolved into two forums and sub boards and Master Threads and this evolution continues.
No solicitations by any admin here were ever made on the SIFY forum for membership and the various members here
learned of this forum either through friends or web searches.
Unmanaged, this forum would degenerate to the likes of other forum. The new forum was formed with the clear
intent to manage the type of information flow and posts. Members choose to come to this board. There is no coercion
only enticement. The enticement is that - come and exchange your views and opinions in a flame free, attack free
atmosphere, with no spam, pornographic, hate or pyramid scheme messages.
We intend to maintain the quality we have created.
4. The Mechanics of Operation
To fulfill the charter, the admin have created forums for discussions and postings.
For better manageability, we have created the following two different forums:
R2I Club (commonly referred to as the Club)
R2I Finance (commonly referred to as the Finance Forum)
4.1. The Finance Forum
The Finance Forum will provide space for discussions primarily related to finance and investments by NRI and
PIOs as well as the R2Ied (already returned NRIs). Discussions related to financial planning, investments, taxes,
etc are the discussions that are entertained in this forum. The focus in the forum will be limited to long range
and short range financial planning, investments, taxes, tax regulations and other financial related discussions
such as loans, credit cards etc. . It is not the intent that this forum becomes a forum primarily for speculative
investment discussions such as trading in stocks and or options, however, the forum will tolerate discussions
between members on stocks and speculative investments to the extent that the main purpose of the board is not
diverted.
The Finance Forum is sub divided into various discussion boards listed below. From time to time based on
feedback and interest level, the board structure may be modified.
General (For all finance related discussions that do not belong to categories of the other boards below)
Indian Finance (For discussions related specifically to Indian Finance)
Bonds/Bond funds (For discussions related bonds and bond funds – India and worldwide)
Banking (For discussions related specifically to banking in India and worldwide)
4.2. The R2IClub Forum
The R2IClub provides two Boards
General (For all non finance R2I related discussions such as shipping, housing etc)
Non-R2I Stuff (For all other discussions such as politics, etc as long as they do not violate code of conduct)

4.5 The Admin Board
There is a private board called the Admin Board that was also created. This board is for the admin to discuss
responsibilities and assignments, duties, and actions related to an effective management of the forum.
4.6 The Admin Selection Process
Every six months (first and third quarter of each year), we consider retiring two admins and selecting two new
admins. However there is not a hard and fast rule to this. There are times when no clear candidate for an admin
position emerges. When this happens, we ask the existing admin to continue.
When an admin participation drops down due to whatever reasons, we ask the admin to consider switching roles to
just a contributing member.
The admins have a fair amount of responsibility and it is a voluntary job. None the less, the admins do have a
lot of power and can cause fair amount of damage to the treasure trove of information that is now available here
for all the members to get benefit from.
The internet forums by their very nature are anonymous and therefore the admin selection process has to be very
careful. Admins are selected after there is a general consensus that they have established their credibility and
revealed their identities. We have no intent of jeopardizing this treasure trove of information by making this an
election process.
4.7 The Admin Functions
Monitor Posts and Threads for conformance to Code of Conduct
Take appropriate action during situations of non adherence to code of conduct.
Monitor that threads are posting in appropriate message boards
Create Master Threads
Catalog and maintain the Master Threads at least once every six months
Update links in Master Threads.
Update the welcome page periodically.
Administrative duties (Code of Conduct, responding to member requests, maintianing of AMC and AARs)
Create Financial Templates, Spreadsheets, Travel Agent Listings, etc, etc
Coordinate efforts during system outage
Lead in crisis management situations
Admin also have been evaluating efforts for back up, portal etc.
4.8 The Code of Conduct
All members upon joining agree to adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is detailed at the

4.9 The Member Functions
- Members have no specific required role other than adherence to Code of Conduct as part of membership
approval.
- Members can however help with the following:
- Help other members who have queries
- Start threads with appropriate subjects that may be beneficial to their fellow NRIs
- Move threads when inappropriately posted
- Bring to our attention offensive posts.
